BALL TYPE (HOLLOW, SOLID, SEALED CAVITY, CORED CAVITY)
* Hollow ball : kmc has two (2) kinds of hollow ball. One is made of tube (pipe) by cold pressing and the other is made from steel by casting foundary (semi hollow). Hollow ball can be used for lowpressure
only ANSI 300# and lower rating class and, then, only applicable for floating type ball (free ball) valves. It is an internal assembly type the downstream seat.
* Solid ball : kmc has two (2) kinds of solid ball. One is made from steel by forging such as A105 or LF2 in carbon steel, F304 or F316 in stainless steel and the other is casting as A216 Gr. WCB or CF8, CF8M, etc.
Solid ball may be applicable for high pressure valves ANSI class 600# and higher ratings and, then, capable of trunnion mounting.
* Cavity ball : Sealed cavity is made of tube (pipe) with rolled plate for small sizes and low pressure, cored cavity ball is made from foundary, casting steel for big sizes than 10" and low pressure than ANSI class 1500#. Sealed cavity is strong enough in durability but not suitable to be mounted on trunnion (Fixed ball).
* Floating type & Trunnion mounting type : Normally, floating type ball valve is acceptable for the ones sized 3 inch and below for all class in the scope of full bore ball valves, however, in case of reduced bore
ANSI class 150# & 300# can be acceptable up to 10 inch ones.
Trunnnion mounted ball (Fixed ball) is an inside assembly type which ball is supported by axles. All trunnion valve for general service, with double block & bleed, that is sealing both seats, simultaneously
unrestricted to flow direction, not presenting leakage on drain.
BODY CONSTRUCTION (ONE/TWO/THREE PIECE)
* Ball valve is basically designed only side entry type, among side entry type one piece body is called fully welded body ball valve and two or three piece is called split body bolted construction.
The valve body designed to withstand a compressive axial thrust without relevant detrimental distortion of the body under load and affecting the free movement of the ball or affecting the sealing
STEM & STEM EXTENSIONS
* The minimum diameter of the stem and its connection to the ball is designed to withstand the maximum operating torque needed to operate against the maximum class of differential pressure. The combined stresses due to up & down stream pressure & operating torque will be less than the maximum allowable stresses specified in ASME section VIII division 1.
* stem parts have a surface roughness (RA) of 0.8 micrometers or smoother and will be cylindrical within a tolerance of ±1mm per 1,000mm length.
To install actuation operators will be equipped with a standised mounting top-flange in accordance with ISO 5211. A separate stem is held by a bonnet or cover flanges and designed blow-out-proof, antistatic device, provision of extended stem.
In case of valves to be installed in underground pipe line will be provided with a stem extension 350mm up to 3,000mm.
SEAT (SOFT SEAT, METAL SEAT WITH SOFT INSERT)
* Kmc can provide the several kinds of soft seat in materials that are subject to users' approval.
: PTFE, Reinforced PTFE, Filled PTFE, Devlon, Nylon, Viton, Peek, etc.
* For metal seat with a soft insert can be applicable for 6 inch and larger sized one that can be installed sealant & lubricant injection fittings for emergency shutoff. Both of them are all fire safe and tested design in accordance with API 6FA, API 607, etc.
* Double seats, primary metal seat and secondary soft insert arrangement will be provided self-relief function.
OPERATORS (MANUAL LEVER OR GEAR, MOTOR, PNEUMATIC)
* The length of the lever handle or diameter of the handwheel for direct or gear operated ball valves will be such that a force not exceeding 350 N.m. will be provided to operate the ball (after opening and closing a new valve at least three times) from either the open and closed position under the maximum differential pressure recommended by Ayna.
* Actuator, if required, must be specified by user in inquiry or purchase order, the type of actuator (Electric Motor, Pnuematic, Hydraulic, etc.) * Valve positio indicator will be designed so as to prevent incorrect orientation on the valve assembly. * Quarter turn ball valve handles' lever will be of permanently fixed to the valve stem by a bolt or nut and the edge will be wrapped with plastic or elastomer. * Valves identified in the specification, as "LO" or "LC" will be provided with suitable adaptor to lock them in the open or closed position as appropriate.
SEALANT SYSTEM & LUBRICANT
Ayna's metal seat with soft inserted ball valves are able to furnish sealant & lubricant injection fitting on the valve's body and stem neck for emergency and maintenance.
TRUNNION MOUNTING OR BEARING RETAINER
* Ayna will recommend the proper design between "Trunnion Mounted" and "Bearing Retainer" for supporting the balls inside of the body.
* Small & low pressure balls will be trunnion mounted but large and high pressure balls will be bearing retainer supported.
DBB, DRAIN & BLEED PLUG, RELIEF VALVE
* Ball valves are basically designed to prove Double Block & Bleed function as per API 6D section 5.
* Drain plug or by-pass to the valve body or trunnion part will be fixed by tapping or welding for 2 inch and above.
* Bleed (Vent) plug will be at the top side of possible position on the body to release inside pressure of the body cavity.
* If specified in purchase order that valves shall have provision for automatic control of cavity pressure of the body to be equipped relief valve.
* Relief valve will be opened at a body cavity differential pressure exceeding 51% of the valve class rating pressure.
BLOWOUT PROOF
Ball valves prevents the stem from blowing out from pressure within the line or body cavity when its operating or sustaining.
The stem is backseated against an inner shoulder and not retained by external bolts or screws or retaining plates. Blowout proof is inherently denied by this positive method of stem retension. KMC has machined a safety shear groove on each side of the stem at the base of the wrench flats, but safety above the stem seals and above the inner
shoulder and above the sealing area.
ANTI-STATIC DEVICE
Anti-static device is formed through metal to metal contact caused by ball safety sustained by building in spring inside the stem of axile.
LIFTING LUG & STAND LEG
* Valve with net weight of 250 Kg and hevier will be fitted with lifting lugs to the valve body, closures or adaptor by welding or boltings.
* Stand leg will be fitted for 450 Kg and hevier at the bottom of the body. The length of the leg can be agreed with the Principal.
STUD BOLT/NUTS
* Flange bolting for carbon steel valves with a minimum design temperature equal or greater than minus 10℃ will be in accordance with ASTM A193-B7 with nuts to 2H.
* Flange bolting for carbon steel and duplex valves with a minimum design temperature between -10℃ and -46℃ will be in accordance with ASTM A320-L7 with nuts to A194-7S3. MARKING/NAME PLATE
All valves where size permits, will be provided with a stainless steel nameplate securely fixed to the body of the valves, otherwise, a stainless tag with non-corrosive wire will be used. The following information
